Herb Meeting July 2008 :

July Herb Meeting

6 July 2008

Once again the meeting took its own lovely journey.

There were about 30 of us who came to the Green Space despite the freezing weather. We huddled in a large circle around an open fire and travelled around the circle sharing stories, latest information and monthly happenings.

It came to everyones attention that Kava has been banned for sale again in WA. Kava and Brahmi were 2 of the big stars at the meeting.

As an afterthought I recognised two main themes to the happenings of the month identified at the meeting. These have given me much guidance on how to proceed as we travel to the Conference in Peru on 13 July.

1. That our intention as our group (and the thing which sets us apart and gives us strength) is that we are focusing on creating bridges. Rather than the thorough rejection of the system of society as it is, as a group we are finding ways to build bridges back to the world. After a very illuminating conversation with Michelle and Deb we identified that we have, indeed been born in the West and we understand this system but we also have the ability to comprehend the shamanic. Such a strong knowledge of two areas that has been considered 'us and them' in the past gives us the ability to bridge the two structures and bring greater harmony in both ourselves and our community and reaching outwards also.

2. That we are conducting our own dietas with herbs. Each and every one of us is already conducting intimate explorations of various herbs from the physical benefits right down to how the herb 'feels' (ie the herbs personality). These dietas are an excellent way for us to expand our knowledge base of the wonderful herbspirits that are teaching us. I believe future circles will involve more detailed descriptions of peoples relationships with various herbs during the month. This knowledge is of the utmost importance and its wonderful we can share this!

We showed the movie 'The Emerald Forest'. An old movie true story about an american boy who is stolen by a tribe in the Amazon and grows up in a tribal way. His american family never stop searching for him and when the boy is a teenager and marrying the family find him deep in the jungle. I found this to be an extremely relevant movie for us to watch at this time. It shows how bridges have been built in the past. It gave me much hope in how much easier and more successfully we can build bridges between different cultures nowadays.

Love and Light to all you herbies and I look forwards to our next meeting.
